Automation Tools Engineer

The Role

Our people can be based “where they do their best work” from either our HQ or from their home (UK based only / VISA sponsorship available). However occasional travel to HQ office will be required for key meetings and events.

Our studio is situated in a river-front building in the heart of the Historic Dockyard in Chatham, Kent, UK. We are growing fast, developing our games using cutting-edge technology and delivering these on multiple platforms: PC, PlayStation 4 and 5 and Xbox One and Series S/X.

We are looking for an Automation Tools Engineer to develop tools and methodologies to maintain and optimise our automation system from software development to deployment.

We’re looking for someone with a passion for technology, software, and game development! At Dovetail, we’re committed to building enthusiast-driven games based around:  

  • Large open-world online multiplayer environments  
  • Exciting gameplay, relying on skill, physics, exploration, and competition  
  • Cutting edge rendering and detailed mechanical and natural simulation technologies
  • Development of multi-platform next generation titles

Responsibilities

  • Working with the central team to design and implement methodologies for software development in a multiplatform environment
  • Implement or integrate tools for our code and asset building, deployment, software analysis and reporting infrastructure
  • Ensure that development tools are used effectively
  • Facilitate the continuous integration process: configuration, documentation, optimization, and support of the infrastructure components
  • Contribute to the development of working practices

What We Look For In You

Required  

  • Experience in the software development cycle
  • Experience in source control, automatic building, and unit testing tools
  • Good knowledge of Python, C#, C++
  • Experience with quality assurance process
  • Knowledge of game development pipelines and a strong interest in game technology development
  • Good communication and collaboration skills

Preferred  

  • Degree in Computer Science or similar subject
  • Experience with Unreal engine
  • Very good knowledge of one or more of: Infrastructure provisioning and system administration, pipeline tools development, integration tools development, monitoring tools development, data processing tools.
  • Experience with next-gen game platforms
  • Experience with web services
  • Familiarity with agile principles
