WHY DOVETAIL LIVE IS SET TO REINVIGORATE THE SIMULATION SECTOR
Chatham, Kent – 31st October 2016 Dovetail Games, the award-winning publisher and developer of a range of simulation entertainment products has today announced that it will launch the initial stages of a brand new platform called Dovetail Live in late 2016. Backed by a multi million pound growth investment from Alcuin Capital Partners, Dovetail Live will be an online destination, which will enable players to interact with Dovetail’s products and each other in an environment tailored specifically to fans of simulation entertainment.
While simulations are classed as a genre of video games, the continued growth of the sector has been inhibited by the fact that a great number of people who play them do not consider themselves to be gamers and can find that existing gaming platforms don’t cater well for their very specific interests and needs.
“The vast majority of people that buy our products don’t behave like traditional gamers, who typically play through an experience from start to finish and then go on to look for the next new and big thing,” says Dovetail Games’ CEO Paul Jackson, Esq OBE. “They behave like hobbyists, individuals with a deep interest in one product that often spans many years. They are very committed to their hobbies and when it comes to simulations, they take great pleasure in curating highly personal collections of content. Developing skills and knowledge by adding new layers of depth and enjoyment to their hobby is something they are very willing to invest in. At Dovetail Games we are committed to offering our hobbyists the very best service, support and positive environment in which to enjoy their passion. Over time, Dovetail Live will deliver this. We are delighted that our new partners at Alcuin Capital Partners share that vision.”
Dovetail Live will be an evolving platform that will ultimately be used in many different ways, from buying and building new content to bringing enthusiasts together to share their knowledge with other like-minded people. It will be a destination where players can gain access to great new content and engage in discussion, as well as a place to learn new skills and share collections. It will be a place where fans can truly celebrate their hobby.
Jon Rissik, Chief Operating Officer at Dovetail Games adds “By offering our customers a place to congregate, interact, play and collect, we feel confident that we can grow the market from the hundreds of thousands of simmers we currently see actively playing our simulations to millions over the next five years. This is because we know there are a vast number of flight, fishing and rail enthusiasts out there who are looking for ways to extend their enjoyment of the subject matter, but who don’t identify with the mainstream gaming world. Dovetail Live will not only be a friendly and welcoming environment which offers digital hobbyists a place to interact with like-minded thinkers, it will enable us to better understand our customers and as a result we will be able to help them tailor their own experiences by offering them content which is very specific to their unique interests. This is going to be a revolutionary step that we believe will bring more players into the simulation space.”
Mark Storey, Founding Partner at Alcuin Capital Partners, said: “Dovetail Games is just the sort of ambitious, growing, international business that we like to support. We know hobbies make great investments having backed Games Workshop almost 25 years ago.”
